  • The "Hitless Wonders" of 1906: In 1906, the White Sox finished with a record of 93-58, but they only scored 460 runs—the lowest total in the American League. Despite their lack of offense, the White Sox won the pennant thanks to their stellar pitching staff.
  • The "Black Sox" Scandal of 1919: In 1919, the White Sox were involved in one of the biggest scandals in baseball history. Eight White Sox players were accused of throwing the World Series to the Cincinnati Reds. The scandal resulted in the players being banned from baseball for life.
  • The "Go-Go" White Sox of 1959: In 1959, the White Sox won their first World Series title in 40 years. The team was led by a group of young players who were known for their speed and athleticism. The "Go-Go" White Sox are still considered one of the most exciting teams in baseball history.
  • The "South Side Hit Men" of 1977: In 1977, the White Sox won their first American League West division title. The team was led by a powerful offense that featured sluggers like Richie Zisk, Carlton Fisk, and Greg Luzinski. The "South Side Hit Men" were one of the most feared offenses in baseball.
  • The "Sale Revolution" of 2016: In 2016, the White Sox began a rebuilding process that was led by general manager Rick Hahn. The team traded away some of its best players, including Chris Sale, in order to acquire young prospects. The "Sale Revolution" is still ongoing, but the White Sox are hopeful that it will lead to another World Series title in the near future.

The White Sox dugout has been the setting for some of the most iconic moments in baseball history. Here are a few of the most memorable:

  • Eddie Collins' catch in the 1917 World Series: In Game 6 of the 1917 World Series, Giants outfielder Fred Merkle hit a deep fly ball to right field. Collins, who was playing center field, made an incredible over-the-shoulder catch to save the game. The catch is still considered one of the greatest in World Series history.
  • Carlton Fisk's walk-off home run in the 1975 ALCS: In Game 6 of the 1975 ALCS, the White Sox were trailing the Red Sox by one run in the bottom of the 12th inning. Fisk hit a towering home run to win the game and send the White Sox to the World Series. The home run is still one of the most iconic moments in White Sox history.
  • Harold Baines' grand slam in the 1983 ALCS: In Game 5 of the 1983 ALCS, the White Sox were trailing the Orioles by four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Baines hit a grand slam to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The White Sox eventually won the game in the 11th inning and went on to win the AL pennant.
  • Paul Konerko's grand slam in the 2005 ALDS: In Game 2 of the 2005 ALDS, the White Sox were trailing the Red Sox by three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Konerko hit a grand slam to win the game and give the White Sox a 2-0 lead in the series. The White Sox went on to win the ALDS and eventually the World Series.
  • A.J. Pierzynski's walk-off home run in the 2008 ALDS: In Game 3 of the 2008 ALDS, the White Sox were trailing the Rays by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Pierzynski hit a solo home run to win the game and give the White Sox a 2-1 lead in the series. The White Sox went on to win the ALDS but lost to the Rays in the ALCS.

In addition to the unforgettable stories and iconic moments, the White Sox dugout has also been the setting for some unseen behind-the-scenes insights. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • The "secret" handshake: For many years, the White Sox players had a secret handshake that they would use to greet each other before games. The handshake was so secret that even the coaches didn't know what it was.
  • The "pep talk": Before every game, White Sox manager Tony La Russa would give his players a pep talk. La Russa's pep talks were known for being both inspiring and motivating.
  • The "post-game meal": After every game, the White Sox players would gather in the dugout for a post-game meal. The meal was usually a simple one, but it was a chance for the players to relax and bond with each other.
  • The "locker room dance party": After big wins, the White Sox players would often have a locker room dance party. The dance parties were a way for the players to celebrate their victory and have some fun.
  • The "team prayer": Before every game, the White Sox players would gather around in the dugout for a team prayer. The prayer was a way for the players to come together as a team and ask for God's help.

The Chicago White Sox dugout is a place of dreams,
