About Her Body Our Laws

Her Body Our Laws (HBOL) is a national grassroots movement fighting for reproductive justice. Our mission is to ensure that all people have the right to control their own bodies and make decisions about their own healthcare, including abortion and contraception.

We believe that reproductive justice is essential to human rights and social justice. When people are able to control their own bodies and make decisions about their own healthcare, they are more likely to be healthy, safe, and successful. Reproductive justice is also essential for gender equality, as it allows people to full participate in society on an equal footing with others.

History of Her Body Our Laws

HBOL was founded in 1973, shortly after the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that abortion is legal in the United States. In the years since, HBOL has been at the forefront of the fight for reproductive justice, advocating for policies that protect and expand access to abortion and contraception.

In the 2010s, HBOL played a key role in the fight against the Trump administration's attacks on reproductive rights. We organized protests, lobbied Congress, and filed lawsuits to challenge the administration's policies.

Today, HBOL continues to fight for reproductive justice at the local, state, and national levels. We are working to protect existing access to abortion and contraception, and to expand access to these essential healthcare services for all people.

Current Campaigns

HBOL is currently working on a number of campaigns to protect and expand reproductive justice, including:

• The Abortion Access Act: This legislation would protect and expand access to abortion care by overturning the Hyde Amendment and other restrictions on abortion funding.
• The Equal Access to Contraception Act: This legislation would guarantee access to contraception by prohibiting employers from denying coverage for contraception in their health insurance plans.
• The Roe Act: This legislation would codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, protecting the right to abortion nationwide.

In addition to these legislative campaigns, HBOL is also working to build support for reproductive justice through grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy.
