Early Life and Career

Snider was born in Philadelphia in 1933. He grew up in a working-class neighborhood and attended Temple University. After graduating, Snider worked as a salesman for a variety of companies.

In 1967, Snider co-founded Comcast Corporation, which would later become one of the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. In 1972, Snider purchased the Philadelphia Flyers, an expansion team in the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Philadelphia Flyers

Under Snider's ownership, the Flyers quickly became one of the most successful teams in the NHL. The Flyers won the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975, and they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals six other times.

Snider was known for his passionate support of the Flyers and his commitment to winning. He was also a shrewd businessman who helped to make the Flyers one of the most profitable teams in the NHL.

Comcast Spectacor

In 1979, Snider founded Comcast Spectacor, a sports and entertainment company that owns the Flyers, the Wells Fargo Center, and several other sports and entertainment venues. Comcast Spectacor also produces live events, such as concerts and shows.

Under Snider's leadership, Comcast Spectacor became one of the most successful sports and entertainment companies in the world. The company's venues have hosted some of the biggest events in sports and entertainment, including the Super Bowl, the Stanley Cup Finals, and the Grammy Awards.

Legacy

Ed Snider died in 2016 at the age of 83. He was a beloved figure in Philadelphia and his legacy will continue to impact the city for years to come.
